Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men’s Volleyball Dominates SUNY Poly, Clinches NEVC Top Seed

DUDLEY, Mass. (3/30/2025) – In their final NEVC regular season matchup, the Nichols College men's volleyball program decisively defeated SUNY Polytechnic Institute in sweeping fashion, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-23) at the Nichols Athletic Center.

The Bison improve to 16-14 (6-0 NEVC), having swept every conference opponent in regular season play. With the loss, the Wildcats drop to 18-12 (3-2 NEVC) overall.

With the win, the Bison also secure the 2025 NEVC Regular Season title, and lock up the top seed in the upcoming postseason tournament.

Graduate student Tanner Soracco led all players on the afternoon, scoring 11 kills on 19 swings (.474) with three digs. Freshman Connor Snow was equally impressive offensively, posting a personal-best 10 kills on .714 hitting, as well as five digs and a block. Graduate student Jack Normandin was explosive from the serve, scoring five total aces, while also guiding the defensive front with 11 digs. Classmate Chandler Olson dished out 19 assists, helping Nichols to a combined .341 hitting percentage.

The Bison racked up a 15-4 advantage to open the first set, which included three consecutive Normandin aces early on. From there, the Wildcats were held to just two point stretches at a time, all the while Nichols continued to grow their advantage to as many as 12 points at 21-9 on a Soracco kill. This pattern continued through to the end, with Nichols winning the set, 25-15 on a final Normandin kill off a set by Evan Sachs.

Nichols showed no signs of slowing down in the second, as the Bison claimed a 14-6 lead thanks to an Olson ace, and a Snow kill. Down the stretch, the Bison took advantage of several Wildcat errors, in tandem with kills from Snow, Dylan Knapp and Conor McCabe to boost their lead to 24-15. Normandin would play the hero a second time, winning the frame on a service ace, 25-15.

In the third set, the Bison connected for 15 kills on .565 clip, their second highest single-set hitting performance this season. The set, however, was a closer fight between the two sides, with the score locking up at 16-all. SUNY Poly then went up 21-18 after a brief 4-1 surge, only for Nichols to score seven of the last nine points to win the frame 25-23, closing out the 3-0 sweep.

The Bison host Division II American International College (4-16, 0-4 ECC) on Wednesday, April 2nd for the team's Senior Night and regular season finale at the Nichols Athletic Center. Opening serve is slated for 7:00 PM.
