Men's Volleyball Triumphs at Endicott, 3-0

DUDLEY, Mass. (3/22/2025) – The Nichols College men's volleyball team pieced together another complete match on Saturday afternoon, defeating conference rival Endicott College in straight sets, 3-0 at MacDonald Gymnasium.

With the win, the Bison improve to 13-12 (4-0 NEVC) overall. The Gulls drop to 11-10 (3-2 NEVC) with the loss.

Jack Normandin led the floor with 10 kills on .667 hitting, additionally logging seven digs. Dylan Knapp was next in line for the Bison offense, scoring eight kills with five blocks, while Tanner Soracco led the defensive effort with 11 digs. Chandler Olson and Evan Sachs tag-teamed the assists from, combining for 44 altogether.

The Bison opened the match with a convincing 25-17 victory in the first set, hitting a combined .382 in the process. Nichols started the set off right with an 8-3 lead following three consecutive Endicott errors, before extending it to as many as 20-13 as the Gulls committed five more miscues down the stretch. The Bison continued on for the win, with Normandin and Pomainville each hammering two kills apiece over the final eight rallies.

Things were much tougher in the second set, as the two sides went point-for-point with each other all the way up to a 21-21 stalemate. The Bison tried twice to pull away from there, both on kills from Knapp, but eventually found themselves at odds with the hosts, 23-23. Finally, kills from Normandin and Soracco sealed the set for the Bison, giving them the 2-0 edge in the match.

With Endicott leading 17-13 in the third, kills from McCabe, Bonville and Soracoo plus one service ace helped the Bison even the odds at 17-all, ahead of Bonville adding a go-ahead kill shortly thereafter to put Nichols up 19-18. After Endicott drew even, the Bison rattled off a 3-0 run to give themselves a two-point cushion at 22-20. The difference paid dividends late, as Olson connected with Adam Vincent for the winning point, 25-20.

Nichols kicks off a busy week at home with a non-conference match against No. 3 Springfield College (18-2) on Wednesday, March 26th. Opening serve is set for 6:00 PM at the Nichols Athletic Center.
