Men’s Lacrosse Handed 11-5 Loss at Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. (3/19/2025) – The Nichols College men's lacrosse team suffered an 11-5 setback at Emmanuel College on Wednesday night in non-conference play at Roberto Clemente Field.

The Bison slide to 1-7 with the loss, while the Saints improve to 2-5 overall.

Three different Bison scored goals in the game, including a pair of multi-goal performances from John Caserta and Kane Williams, who each scored twice. Joey LaChance was the third of the goal-scoring trio, netting his second of the season, while Cooper Melvin led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and two ground balls. From the faceoff, Travis Arnold went 7-of-18 from the X, additionally scooping four ground balls.

Starting goalkeeper Brady Morgan (1-7) took the loss in net, making 14 saves.

Nichols was outshot in the first half 16-2, with their lone goal coming from LaChance at the 10:06 mark of the period off an assist from Dylan DeRubeis. Trailing 3-1 entering the second quarter, Williams ignited the Bison offense with back-to-back goals to even the odds at 3-3, originating off passes from DeRubeis and Jonah Libby. However, Emmanuel would sneak one more into the Bison cage before the end of the half, giving them a one-goal edge at the break.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as Nichols would get the rest of the way, as the Saints outscored the visitors by a 3-1 margin in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 7-4 heading into the fourth quarter. Emmanuel then poured in another four goals in the fourth, again limiting the Bison to a single goal for a total of two in the half, both belonging to Caserta.

The Bison are in action again on Saturday, March 22nd when they travel VTSU-Castleton for a 2:00 PM non-conference game at Dave Wolk Stadium.
