BEVERLY, Mass. (3/13/2025) – The Nichols College Football Program saw three members honored as the Conference of New England (CNE) announced their All-40
th Team on Thursday afternoon. Tony Martignoli '20, Jared Abbruzzese '20, and Bill Hassett '12 all earned the honor for the Bison.
The minimum criteria for the list began with at least two First Team All-Conference selections or at least one Player of the Year honor, while graduating from their institution. Both current and former league members can earn recognition on the teams.
Martignoli graduate top in receptions (143) and number three in all-time receiving yards (1,922), and number four in receiving touchdowns (12). A three-time All-Conference selection, he established single season receptions (62) and receiving yards (940) records in his freshman year. The receiving yards record was broken this year by senior
Jack Morvan (948). Martignoli's 17 receptions against Curry College in 2016, still holds as the top single game record after graduate student
Joshua Vitti, equaled that total against Curry this season.
Abbruzzese, graduated ranked in the top 10 in interceptions (6) in his time at Nichols. The two-time All-Conference First Team selection was all over the secondary for the Bison. He his tied for the program lead in single game interceptions when he recorded three picks against Anna Maria in 2018.
Hassett, a two-time New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd Division First Team Defensive Line selection, finds himself all over the Bison record books. Hassett also played in 2010 DII/DIII All-American Bowl. He recorded 244 career tackles, ranking fifth all-time, and 44.5 tackles for a loss in his career, ranking second all-time. His 20.0 sacks in his career is also a top three mark in Bison Program history. Hassett recorded the most forced fumbles in a game (2), most in a season (3), and second most in a career (5) in his time on "The Hill".
The 40th Anniversary campaign runs parallel to the league's new naming and branding initiative that was launched in August. This celebration also serves as a platform to highlight the conference's achievements, hone its history, and generate enthusiasm for future endeavors.
