SAN ANTONIO, T.X. (3/12/2025) – The Nichols College baseball team put a scare into the #7 Trinity University Tigers on Tuesday afternoon from the Tiger Baseball Field, as they fell 8-3 to the Tigers in game two of the Texas Trip.
The Bison offense saw senior
Karl Miller bat 5-5 with five singles and an RBI. Teammate
Stanley Cipkas tallied two hits and freshman
Ryan Keating went 3-5 in the game as well. Junior
Julian Galvan led the way for the Bison, plating two RBI.
The Bison opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with to outs. Junior
Liam Flynn drew a four pitch walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Miller then singled to right field, scoring Flynn, as the Bison took a 1-0 lead after one inning of play.
Senior
Jacob Tipton singled to kick start the second inning and Cipkas ripped a double down the right field line to put runners on second and third with one out. Galvan hit a single to center field, scoring both Tipton and Cipkas, as Nichols led 3-0.
Trinity answered back in the bottom half of the inning, and trailed 3-1, after two innings. In the fourth inning, the home team found their bats, scoring four runs on four hits and an error, that saw the Tigers take their first lead, 5-3.
Trinity did not look back, scoring three more runs over the final five innings to take an 8-3 win over the Bison.
Seven Bison pitchers saw action, senior
Richard Pignone (0-1) was tabbed with the loss after sophomore
Allen Hinckley earned the start, throwing 3.0 innings, while striking out two and allowing three hits.
Nichols (3-2) will continue their road trip, as they begin to head back eats to Arkansas where they will face off against Hendrix College for a pair of games. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:00 p.m. (ET) / 5:00 p.m. (CT) from Warrior Baseball Field.
