Bison and #15 Gulls Tie 1-1

HARRISVILLE, R.I. (2/8/2025) – Senior Nathan Carl scored a short-handed goal for the Nichols College men's hockey team tied #15 Endicott College on Saturday night from Levy Rink in Conference of New England (CNE) play. The Bison and Gulls tied 1-1 with Endicott winning 3-2 in the shootout.

Carl scored the lone goal for the Bison, short-handed, with teammate Josh Dickson tallying the only assist. Freshman Liam Choquette turned aside 38 shots, including 19 in the third period to earn the tie.

After 40 minutes of scoreless action that saw the Bison outshot the Gulls 26-17. Both teams were unable to score on their power-play opportunities, it was he Bison who capitalized on the Endicott mistake.

Dickson intercepted a pass and sent a lead pass to Carl who split the Endicott defenders and beat the goalie with a wrist shot for a 1-0 Nichols lead with 12:29 remaining in the game. This was Carl's second goal of the weekend and seventh on the season.

The Gulls continued to pressure the Bison defensive zone and evened the score with 59 seconds remaining in the period. The Gulls out shot Nichols 20-9 in the period and forced extra time with the score at 1-1.

Neither team scored in overtime, eve after the Bison saw a power-play opportunity in the 3-on-3 period. The game needed a shootout to decide the final conference point, after each team earned a point. The Gulls edged out the Bison, by a final of 3-2 in four rounds of the shootout.

Nichols will hit the road and head to Pawtucket. R.I. where they will face off against the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales on Friday, February 14, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m.
