Bison Unable to Hold Off Endicott, 93-77

BEVERLY, Mass. (2/11/2025) – The Nichols College men's basketball team was unable to slow down the Endicott College offense in a 93-77 conference loss on Tuesday night inside MacDonald Gymnasium.

Nichols falls to 11-11 (8-7 CNE) overall with the loss, while Endicott improves to 16-6 (13-2 CNE) with the win.

Ryan Savoy led four Bison in double-figures against the Gulls, scoring a career-best 26 points behind 11-of-16 (68.8%) shooting, with three rebounds and four assists. Javen Flowers-Smith finished close behind with 23 points and five rebounds. Simon Percy had 13 points, in addition to five boards of his own, while Olivier St. Louis notched 10 points with a team-leading six rebounds. The Bison finished the game shooting 31-of-61 (50.8%) from the field and 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line, but were limited in three-point shooting to just 4-of-19 (21.1%) from the perimeter.

The Bison were put to the test early with a 7-2 deficit through the game's first two minutes, but rose to the challenge by scoring six straight points to take an 8-7 lead, ending with a Percy layup. Endicott countered with back-to-back triples, which in-turn helped them build their lead up to 21-14 at the midway point of the half. Ethan Minarik then knocked down his own three-pointer at the 9:15 mark, kicking off a sizeable 12-3 Bison run that brought the score to a 26-26 stalemate with 7:00 to play. The two teams traded baskets the rest of the half, with Nichols clinging to a narrow one-point lead of 38-37 at the conclusion.

The close play continued through the first five minutes of the second half, until Endicott utilized a 10-2 run to draw ahead 60-53 with 13:00 to go. Several minutes later, with the Gulls now leading by 14 points, the Bison managed to trim the lead back to single-digits following consecutive jumpers from Savoy and Flowers-Smith, as well as a St. Louis free throw, making it 79-67. Endicott then answered with their own 11-3 run, putting the game well out of reach and leading them to their eventual 93-77 triumph.

The Bison head back on the road this coming Saturday to complete the regular season series with the University of New England (6-16, 4-11 CNE). Tip-off against the Nor'easters is set for 3:00 PM.
