#11 UNE Sneaks Past Men's Hockey, 2-1

HARRISVILLE, R.I. (2/1/2025) – Sophomore Dylan Ray scored his first collegiate goal on Saturday evening as the Nichols College men's hockey team was edged out 2-1 by the #11 University of New England from Levy Rink in Conference of New England (CNE) play.

Ray scored in the first period to help the Bison draw level with assists coming from senior Luke Harvie and graduate student Joey Allegrini. Freshman Liam Choquette turned away 34 shots whole shouldering the loss for the Bison.

The Nor'easters opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 2:57 mark of the first period. Ray and the Bison responded well, scoring 40 seconds later to even the game at 1-1. After Allegrini sent a pass to Ray who rifled a shot wide, Harvie gathered the loose puck and sent it back to the point and Ray fired once again, this time scoring, to even the score.

UNE again added the eventual game-winning goal at the 13:10 mark of the period on the power play.

Neither team scored the remainder of the game, with each team trading chances throughout the final 40 minutes of action. The Bison pulled the goalie with 50 seconds remaining for the extra attacker but could not get the equalizer and fell 2-1.

Nichols will look towards Endicott, as the Bison travel to Beverly on Friday night for a 5:00 p.m. puck drop against the Gulls.
