Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Topples Curry For Conference Win, 85-77

MILTON, Mass. (12/2/2025) - The Nichols College men's basketball squad traveled to Curry College late on Tuesday for their second take in conference competition for the 2025-26 season. The Bison were able to outlast the Colonels for their first CNE win of the season at the Dr. Eleanor M. Katz Gymnasium, 85-77.

The win produces a three-game streak for the Bison, their record now improving to 4-4 on the year, with a CNE record of 1-1. On the other side of the win for Nichols, Curry drops to 3-5 overall, 0-2 in the CNE.

In the scoring department, the game once again saw a dominant and leading performance from Javen Flowers-Smith, a 30-point night on 60.9% shooting going 14-23 from the field. Flowers-Smith has now led the team in scoring for five games in the season. Most proficient on the boards for the Bison today was Olivier St. Louis with his 13, followed by another double digit rebounding performance in Dominic Mello's 11. Coupled with his 14 points, St. Louis leaves the court with his third double-double of the season, with Mello grabbing the first of his career with his 13 points. Flowers-Smith and Melo shared the ball for scoring opportunities for five assists each, marking them as leaders in the column. St. Louis and Flowers-Smith's sleight of hand produced three steals for both guards, leaders in the category for the game.

The Bison fought their way through several lead changes in the first half, but ended up in the driver's seat with comfortable lead of 45-39 to end. Flowers-Smith's 13 points in the first half was a key factor in insuring a lead for Nichols going into the second half of play. Nichols was also able to keep the fouls to a minimum for the half with three, a comparative low to Curry as their foul trouble put the Bison in the bonus and consequently give them eight points in free throws. Eight points from Kuany Teng and a combined 10 bench points helped the Bison build their cushion and momentum as well.

Despite shooting a low 29.4% (10-34) from the field as a team in the second half of play, Nichols was able to enforce their lead and eventual win seeing more foul trouble from the Colonels. The Bison were able to capitalize on their opportunities at the line, scoring a total of 17 points from the charity stripe for the second half. It was the same song and dance for the game to end it out, several lead changes occurred and an Edrick Quezada layup at 15:26 put the Bison over the Colonels at 51-50, the last lead change in the game which was followed by the thirst consecutive victory for men's basketball, an 85-77 final score.

Men's Basketball will continue their conference play against Johnson & Wales University on December 6th at the Nichols Athletic Center. The game is set to start 3:30 PM.
