No. 2 Women's Tennis to Host No. 3 Gordon for CNE Semifinal


DUDLEY, Mass. (10/28/2025) - The No. 2 seeded Nichols College women's tennis and first-year head coach Javier Godoy Gomis will start their postseason play on Saturday afternoon and will host No. 3 Gordon College (9-3, CNE 8-2) in the semifinal round of the 2025 Conference of New England Tournament. The match will have a start time of 1:00 PM at the Robinson Tennis Courts. 

Should either team win, they will subsequently play in the final match up on Sunday, November 2nd.

How it can unfold:

  • No. 2 Nichols will play No. 3 Gordon College on Sunday, October 1st at 4:00 PM.
  • On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 Colby-Sawyer College (9-1, CNE 9-1) will be playing the winner of No. 4 Roger Williams (13-2, CNE 8-2) versus No. 5 Endicott College (7-6, CNE 6-4) on Wednesday, 2:00 PM. 
  • Both being the top two seeds, No. 2 Nichols and No. 1 Colby-Sawyer will host their semi-final matches, but in the event both Colby-Sawyer and Nichols see each other in the final the Chargers will be hosting.

For the semi-final match against Gordon, the Bison are up in W/L historically, boasting a 26-12 all-time record against the Fighting Scots. As a team, the Bison posted impressive numbers in singles and doubles. For dual singles they recorded 58-13 (CNE 45-11), and 26-9 (CNE 21-7) for doubles matches. 

Kamora Helton and Charis Vogler are players to watch for singles, they finished up undefeated for singles play for the fall season and will be crucial in securing singles points for the Bison. Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi who is 12-1 in singles for the year will also be integral for Nichols' singles competition.

The duo of Vogler and Cora Brosch is undefeated in doubles match ups this season, the Bison will benefit from the momentum that will carry over into the postseason. Helton and Gonzalez Vallardi also boast the second highest doubles record on the team 11-2, a vital addition for securing the doubles point.

The Bison earned a win against Gordon earlier in the season 4-3, following a thrilling three-set win for Helton. Given the degree of competition they could pose a tough match up for the semi-final.
