Men's Tennis Battle Regional Foes at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (10/11/2025) - The Nichols College men's tennis team saw action in the Springfield Invitational on Saturday, playing in two uniquely rules matches against the United State Coast Guard Academy and the hosting Springfield College.

Matches saw four court positions for doubles play and following were a total of eight singles matches, creating 12 individual and paired matches for each opponent.

To start the day, the Bison were set to trade blows with Springfield College, with Nichols winning four of the 12 match ups. Notable features included a doubles win from the duo of Joshua Alarcon and Rodolfo Hernandez, 6-4, and a 6-3 win on the No. 4 doubles court from Alexander Snitko and Felipe Gonzalez. For singles play, Nikolas Bertrams pulled off a skillful performance winning his singles match up, 6-1, 6-3. Alexander Snitko was also able to snag a singles court for the Bison, securing a convincing three set win, 6-2, 0-6, 10-6. Singles action also saw several other Bison taking their matches to three sets, but ultimately resulting in a loss.

The second test of the day was against USCGA, where the Bison took an overpowering eight of 12 matches. Nichols won three of the four doubles match ups, featuring wins from William Albrikes and Bertrams domination 6-2, Jodha Singh and Ezra Raphael securing their match 7-6 (5), coupled with Alarcon and William Bergendahl finishing one shy of a sweep, 6-1. For singles, Singh won 6-0, 3-6, 10-7, Raphael with 6-3, 6-2, and Joshua Zenczak securing his court 6-4, 6-3. Following these wins, Snitko won 8-2, and Rodolfo Hernandez swept his match up, 6-0, 6-0.

The Bison will complete for their record next, playing Franklin Pierce University at the Robinson Tennis Courts alonside the women's team. The match is on Monday, October 20th, with a start time of 2:00 PM.
