DUDLEY, Mass. (10/1/2025) - The Nichols College field hockey team fell 2–0 to non-conference opponent Wellesley College on Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.
The Bison fall to 2-9 (0-3 CNE) overall with the home setback, while the Blue improve to 2-7 (0-2 NEWMAC).
Wellesley saw a couple of early looks at the Bison net, with two penalty corners through the opening two minutes of gameplay. This spearheaded what would be a lopsided opening half in favor of the Blue, as they went on to outshoot the Bison by a 12-1 margin, including another three penalty corners early-on in the second period.
The Blue eventually broke the scoreless tie in the 28
th minute of the second quarter, after an initial got in behind starting goalkeeper
Fallyn Belisle, before it was poked into the goal for the 1-0 Wellesley lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, with the Blue tacking on another six unanswered shots, Wellesley doubled their advantage to 2-0 on a goal just 00:57 into the final period, ultimately earning them the victory by the same score.
In net, Belisle (0-1) made her first start of the season against the Blue, turning aside seven-of-nine shots faced.
Field hockey returns to the road for a CNE showdown at the University of New England (5-5, 1-2 CNE) on Saturday, October 4
th. Game start is set for 1:00 PM against the Nor'easters at Blue Bolt Field.
