DUDLEY, Mass. (1/22/25) - The Nichols College women's basketball team fell to Endicott College, 95-67 on Wednesday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Nichols drops to 10-6 (3-6 CNE) overall with the loss, while Endicott jumps to 11-5 (7-2 CNE).
Abrianna Vazquez led the charge for Nichols, scoring 24 points on 10-of-20 (50.0%) shooting with four rebounds.
Summer Klein respectively went 4-of-10 (40.0%) from the floor with 11 points in the effort, including a trey and a perfect 2-for-2 mark at the free throw line, along with chipping in five rebounds. Combined, the Bison shot 25-of-72 (34.7%) from the field.
Despite hanging with the Gulls through the game's opening three minutes, the Bison fell victim to some solid three-point shooting by the guests in the first quarter, with Endicott going 5-of-9 (55.5%) from the perimeter. That success, coupled with a handful of Bison fouls, saw the Gulls jump out to a sizeable 30-16 lead after 10 minutes of action. Endicott continued to add to its lead in the second quarter, as they outscored the Bison by a lopsided 29-13 margin en route to a 30-point lead at the break, 59-29.
The Bison stepped up their game in the second half, with Vazquez accounting for half of the teams 16 points scored through the first five minutes of the third quarter. Despite the improved offensive output by the hosts, Endicott would end up going point-for-point with the Bison in the frame, preserving their 30-point advantage through three at 80-50.
Nichols then outscored Endicott 17-15 in the fourth to shave two points off the difference, but to no avail as the Gulls claimed the win, 95-67.
Nichols women's hoops returns to action on Saturday, January 25
th for a road contest at Roger Williams University (10-6, 7-2 CNE). Tip-off is slated for 1:00 PM inside the RWU Student Center Gymnasium.
