WESTFIELD, Mass. (9/8/24) - On Saturday, the Nichols College women's golf team made their 2024-25 debut at the Westfield State Invitational. The event, which was held at the Shaker Farms Country Club, was washed out due to rainy conditions.
The Bison were one of five participating teams, with the compiled list also including Keene State College, Suffolk University, and Gordon College. No team scores were recorded.
Of the five total Bison competitors, four were able to finish their rounds prior to the halt in play. The top finisher for Nichols was freshman
Isabella Fleury, who carded a 92 (+20) in her collegiate debut. Next up was sophomore captain
Maya Orbegozo, who shot a 23-over 95 on the afternoon, and fellow captain
Kaitlin Baca who finished one stroke behind Orbegozo at 95 (+24).
Sophomore
Gabrielle Maranchie scored a 105 (+33) as the final finisher, while senior Keeley Griffin came up shy of completing the round with a 96 (+25) through 16.
Next up for the Bison is the Keene State Invitational on Sunday, September 29
th. The single-round tournament will be played at the Keene Country Club.
