KEENE, N.H. (9/29/24) - Led by top-ten finishes from
Kaitlin Baca,
Isabella Fleury and
Maya Orbegozo, the Nichols College women's golf team earned a runner-up finish at the Keene State Fall Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The solo-round event was held at the par-72 Keene Country Club. The Bison combined to score 146 (+74) through the single round, finishing 21 strokes behind tournament winner Suffolk University.
Baca and Fleury each topped the Bison leaderboards with respective 87 (+15) scores, earning them both a share of third place in the 40-player field. Orbegozo also finished among the upper echelon, claiming a tie for seventh with a 90 (+18) on the day.
Freshman
Eva Melanson notched a 14
th place finish individually with a 98 (+26), while sophomore
Gabrielle Maranchie carded a 107 (+35) to place 19
th. Senior
Keely Griffin competed as an individual and was positioned tied for 31
st place at 46-over par (118).
Next up for the Bison will be the Hamilton College Invitational on October 5-6 at the Skenandoa Golf Club in Clinton, New York.
