BRUNSWICK, Maine (9/29/24) – The Nichols College men's golf team placed 17
th at the Bowdoin College Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The two-day tournament, which featured 21 participating programs and 112 competitors, was played at the par-72 Brunswick Golf Club.
Nichols posted a 36-hole score of 631 (+55) while Tufts University won the tournament with a score of 587 (+11), finishing four strokes ahead of runner-up Amherst.
After holding 17
th place on day one, the Bison moved up in the final standings thanks to an improved performance in the second round, where they shaved off 21 strokes to card a 305 (+17).
Kyle Richman, in his season debut, led the way for the Bison with a score of 152 (+8) through the two rounds, landing him in a five-way tie for 30
th individually. After scoring a 78 (+6) in the opening round, Richman improved his score by four strokes on day two with a 74 (+2), which marked a new career single-round low performance for the sophomore.
Senior
Colby Allen placed tied for 59
th with a 157 (+13), additionally seeing a refined second round performance. Sophomores
Tyler Pearson and
Brady Salah were not far behind, placing tied for 74
th (+16) and 79
th (+18) respectively, while senior
Luke Sargent rounded out the list in a seven-way tie for 85
th with a 163 (+19).
Men's Golf will have the week off before competing next weekend at the Hamilton College Invitational in Clinton, New York. The two rounds will be played on October 5-6 at the Skenandoa Golf Club, with tee-off set for 1:00 PM on day one.
