INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (6/20/24) - The Nichols College women's basketball team finished the 2023-24 season as NCAA statistical champions, and recently received commemorative plaques for their accomplishments.
The program led the nation in three separate categories across its strongest season in over a decade: scoring offense (84.6 PPG), turnover margin (20.0) and steals per game (22.4).
In 2023-24, Nichols' potent offence included six games with a minimum 100 points scored, additionally featuring a program record 114 in a win over Curry College on January 20
th. On the defensive side of the ball, the Bison played true to their "Controlled Chaos" method and forced opponents into 990 turnovers throughout the season, with a conference leading average of 38.1 per game. The Bison also turned that defense into offense with 583 total steals this year, which was also a program record for a single season.
Nichols also registered double-figure steals in each of their 26 games this season, with 17 outings featuring at least 20 in that category. The Bison completed the 2023-24 campaign with a 12-14 overall record, with a 7-9 mark against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents.
