Bison Advance to CCC Title Match With 5-1 Semi-FInal WIn Over Gordon

DUDLEY, Mass. (5/1/2024) – The No. 1 seed Nichols College Men's Tennis Team's depth proved critical as they took down the No. 4 seed Gordon College Fighting Scots in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Semi-final Match on Wednesday afternoon in Dudley. The Bison reached the critical fifth point with a six-slot singles victory to edge the Fighting Scots 5-1. With the win the Bison have advanced to the CCC championship match.
 
The Bison got ahead to a 2-1 lead in doubles play. Those points came from wins secured in the two and three positions. At two, the Bison's Caio Dieckmann & Richard Hartmann Zuzio were the first duo to finish, edging the Fighting Scots' Joshua Noel and Larson Benthem 8-3. Following them was the number three duo of Trevor Schwarzmann & Enzo Matos Balleux who topped Gordons' Sam Miller and Carleton Riester by a matching 8-3 score.
 
The secured singles points were won by the Bison's depth in the four, five and six positions. Enzo Matos Balleux was dominate, securing a 6-0, 6-0 win at number four in a fast match. Next was Kerem Subasi who won 6-1, 6-2 at five. The Bison's game winning point was secured by Caio Dieckmann in his number six matchup. Dieckmann's 6-4, 6-2 win was good to secure the game for the Bison. Leon Zeis, Trevor Schwarzmann and Richard Hartmann Zuzio were all battling and had secured one set in their matches but were decided as unfinished scores.
 
Nichols now heads to familiar territory in the CCC title match. They continue pursuit to their 14th title in program history. They are set to face the No. 3 seed Endicott College, who is making their debut in the CCC championship match. The Gulls upset the Roger Williams University Hawks in the other semi-final. The championship match is set for Saturday, May 4th at 4PM at the Robinson Tennis Courts in Dudley.
