DUDLEY, Mass. (4/16/24) – In the Nichols College women's golf program's first ever home tournament, freshman
Maya Orbegozo shot an 18-over par 90 to place first out of 14 total participants at the Par-72 Dudley Hill Golf Course.
Orbegozo's 18-over performance frontloaded a 404 (+116) team card for the Bison, who also took first as a team ahead of runner-up Westfield State (471 | +183) and third place Gordon College (510 | +222). Due to the limited number of participants, each team's final score included the top four finishers.
Sophomore
Kaitlin Baca secured second place individually and signed her scorecard with a single-round score of 100 (+28). Freshman
Gabrielle Maranchie finished six strokes back of Baca, finishing fifth overall with a score of 106 (+34). Senior
Claire Curry scored a 108 (+36) to tie for sixth place, while
Keely Griffin took ninth with a 125 (+53).
As the lone individual participant for the Bison,
Taylor Cornell rounded out an eighth-place finish, carding a score of 119 (+47).
The home tournament marked the end of the spring season for the Bison, who will now set their sights on the 2024 fall campaign.
