DUDLEY, Mass. (3/28/2024) - The Nichols College Strength and Conditioning staff hosted the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Massachusetts State Clinic on Saturday March 23, in Chalmers Field House. Nichols saw more than 200 Strength and Conditioning professionals attend the event, making it one of the largest NSCA State Clinic's in Massachusetts.
Nichols College in collaboration with Springfield College Strength and Conditioning put the event on.
"Being able to host the NSCA Mass. State Clinic put in perspective how important it is to give back to the field and provide opportunities for all individuals that work in sports performance." said Nichols College Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
Justin Ruff, "It is crucial to continue to grow as professionals but even more important to develop relationships with people in the field."
Dr. Adam Feit of Springfield College and the NSCA Massachusetts State Director had this to say about the event held at Nichols:
"Hosting a state-level clinic is one of the most influential ways to impact the local community of coaches and aspiring strength and conditioning professionals. The NSCA is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning. It promotes sharing research-based knowledge and its practical application to elevate athletic performance and fitness for all people. Hosting in such a world-class, centrally located facility in Massachusetts, like Nichols College, allows a more equitable and reasonable commute for all the coaches on the western and eastern sides of the state. We are incredibly proud of the collective efforts of our state advisory board and our newly developed partnership between Springfield College Strength and Conditioning and Nichols College Strength and Conditioning for this weekend's massive success."
"Budget-friendly clinics such as our state clinic continue to reach more and more people, only elevating the platform and professionalism we seek to promote in the world of athletics and high performance. Many thanks to Coach Justin Ruff, his team, and the entire athletics department of Nichols College for helping us promote a record-setting event."
The event allowed for Strength and Conditioning Coaches to build relationships as well as meet to talk about new research being conducted at their institutions. Student Interns from Springfield and Nichols College were provided time during the event to speak on research they have been conducted in a presentation style with questions at the end.

Tyler Bost was one of those student interns and he had this to say about the event: "This event was the best networking and learning event I have had in my time at Nichols College".
The Senior Director of Membership and Program Development for the NSCA,
Scott Douglas, was also in attendance at the event and said "Professional growth doesn't happen in isolation, and that is why it is so important to make every effort to attend clinics and conferences in your area. Not only will you learn from your peers, but you will also make connections that could lead to future opportunities."
