DUDLEY, Mass. (2/1/2024) - Head Football Coach Vinny Marino has announced Bill (William)Â Lund as the Nichols College men's football team's next Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach.
"I am very excited that Bill has joined our staff", said Marino, "He brings a wealth of knowledge and Coordinator experience to the staff. He has a background of coaching in the Northeast and the Midwest which will help us greatly in recruiting. I am so excited to see him connect with our players this spring and get out defense to play at a level that will allow us to compete for championships."
 Lund enters his first season as the Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach for the Bison.
"I'm fired up to be joining the Bison family as Defensive Coordinator!" said Lund. "I am excited to reunite with Coach Marino and help him bring Nichols' football back to prominence!"
Lund spent his last three years as the Roosevelt University Lakers special teams coordinator and also helped coach the team's defensive line in 2023. In 2022, Lund coached the conference's top defense and was a top 10 defense in the country (NAIA). During his tenure with the Lakers, Lund has mentored 14 All-Conference selections. Prior to his arrival at Roosevelt, Lund served as the Special Teams Coordinator at Carthage College (Wis.), where he also worked with the Firebird linebackers in 2018. In addition, Lund has coached with USA Football and the US National Football Program since 2016.Â
In 2017, Lund mentored the wide receivers at Lake Forest College (Ill.), and holds experience as an assistant coach in several collegiate programs, including Hope College (Mich.), North Park University (Ill.), St. Norbert College (Wis.), Carleton College (Minn.), Colby College (Maine) Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.), Saint Anselm College (N.H.), Columbia University (N.Y.), and the University at Buffalo (N.Y.). While at Buffalo, he helped the Bulls to the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championship and the 2009 International Bowl. Along the way, Lund coached future NFL talents Josh Martin, Steven Means, and Khalil Mack.Â
Lund is a 1996 graduate of Lawrence University (Wis.), where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology while competing for the Vikings football program as an offensive lineman and linebacker. In 1995, Lund was named to the Midwest All-Conference Team as a center, before being honored with the Ralph V. Landis Award for the football team's most dedicated student-athlete during his senior season at Lawrence University.Â
In addition to his undergraduate degree, Lund holds a Master of Sports Science & Coaching degree from the United States Sports Academy, which was earned in 2006, and is a 1992 graduate of Iola-Scandinavia High School in Iola, Wis. Lund has served as the strength and conditioning coordinator for the past three seasons and holds a CSCS as well as a USAW-1 certification.Â
