ROME, N.Y. (10/6/24) – The Nichols College women's golf team placed 14
th at the Hamilton College Invitational on Sunday afternoon, the team's first two-round tournament of the 2024 season.
The event was held at the par-72 Rome Country Club. The Bison posted a 36-hole score of 828 (+252), improving by eight strokes in the second round. Amherst and Wellesley were both crowned co-winners the tournament, posting matching scores of 622 (+46).
Freshman Isabella Fluery led the way for the Bison, finishing in 69
th individually after turning in a 187 (+43) card. Sophomores
Maya Orbegozo,
Gabrielle Maranchie and freshman
Eva Melanson each stayed close together in the final leaderboard, landing in 73
rd, 74
th and 75
th place respectively. Orbegozo turned in a two-round score of 210 (+66), while Maranchie finished with a 215 (+71) and Melanson a 221 (+77).
Junior captain
Kaitlin Baca rounded out the list for the Bison, finishing 77
th with a 224 (+80).
Nichols returns to action on October 19-20 for the annual NEIGA Championship in Brewster, Massachusetts.
