SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (10/29/24) – In their regular-season finale, the Nichols College Bison women's soccer team took to the pitch in Springfield to take on the Western New England Golden Bears. The Golden Bears found the back of the net twice in the first half to take the game 2-0.
With the loss, the Bison finished their season with a 4-12-2 (0-9 CNE) record. The Golden Bears head to the CNE post-season with a 10-3-6 (5-2-2- CNE) record.
The scoring was opened in the ninth minute as Abigail Alicandro fired a ball to the low left side past Bison starter
Saige Frazier to take a 1-0 lead. The Golden Bears would add their second goal in the 22nd minute to clinch the 2-0 win.
The Bison defense and Frazier held off the Golden Bears for the final 68 minutes of play to finish the game off 2-0. Frazier, the senior recorded five saves in her last game as a Bison.
Leading the way for the Bison was graduate student
Grace Killman who in her final game on the pitch for Nichols played all 90 minutes and took two shots. Those two shots were good enough to tie the Nichols College women's soccer program record for shots in a career with 228. She ties Chelsea Shaughnessy who played for the Bison from 2008-2011.
Seniors
Ariana Owen and
Alana Snow also took a shot each for the Bison.
The game was the last of the Bison's 2024 campaign, they now turn their attention to spring ball and the 2025 slate.
