Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Toppled By Endicott, 101-74

DUDLEY, Mass. (1/31/24) – To close out the month of January, the Nichols College women's basketball team dropped a 101-74 decision to guest Endicott College on Wednesday evening at the Nichols Athletic Center.

The Bison slip to a 9-10 (5-6 CCC) mark on the season, while the Gulls improve to 11-8 (7-5).

The Bison finished the game shooting 32.6 percent (28-of-86) from the field, 26.5 percent (9-of-34) from three-point territory and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the charity stripe. Senior Abrianna Vazquez recorded 20 points to lead the Bison, along with three steals and two assists. Freshman center Angie Coletti rounded out the list of Bison in double-figure scoring, as she added a career-high 12 points alongside a pair of steals.

The Bison kept pace with the Gulls in closely contested opening quarter as the lead swapped a total of six times. The Bison saw their best success early on when sophomore Adriana Romano knocked down a triple at 7:46 to open the scoring for the hosts. The basket also spearheaded a 10-2 run for the Bison, which gave them a 10-6 lead midway through the frame. Endicott would fire back and return to a 22-21 lead at the end of one.

The Gulls scored eight of the first 10 points of the second quarter, increasing their lead to nine with 5:49 left to play. From there, the Gulls continued to pile on the points, outscoring the Bison 27-7 in total throughout the frame. Endicott would complete the half with a 49-28 advantage.

The second half was a race to the finish. Despite the Bison netting 46 points during the final 20 minutes, Nichols continued to lose ground to the Gulls as the guests went on to score 52 second half points of their own to sneak past the century mark.

The Bison are back in action this Saturday, February 3rd when they host the University of New England (14-6, 9-3 CCC) for a 1:00 PM matinee.
