MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (1/27/2024) – The Nichols College men's hockey team and the Salve Regina University Seahawks needed overtime for the second straight night, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action. The Bison lost 3-2 to the Seahawks from St. George's Ice Rink on Saturday night.

Kaiden Scott tallied an assist on Carl's goal.
Tyler Bost made 29 stops in the loss for the Bison.
Salve scored the games first goal at the just under five minutes into the first period. Nichols responded with just under three minutes remaining in the period. The Bison found themselves killing a 5 on 3 and after a blocked shot and clear for the Bison, the Seahawks netminder tried to make a cross ice pass and Temple intercepted the pass an fired the puck into the open goal to even the score at 1-1. This was Temple's third goal of the season, coming shorthanded.
Nichols added their second goal of the game and the game leading goal. It was Carl scoring his second goal of the weekend and this one gave the Bison a 2-1 lead at the 2:32 mark of the second period. Scott intercepted a cross ice pass at the center circle and raced into the zone with a 2 on 1. He dropped the pass off to Carl, who fired the shot over the net minder's shoulder for a 2-1 Nichols lead.
The Bison entered the dressing room up 2-1 after 40 minutes. Nichols led the shot advantage 21-20.
In the third period, the Seahawks scored the game tying goal with 13 minutes remaining in the game. Neither could find the go-ahead goal in regulation and this game was headed for overtime for the second straight night and third straight game for the Bison.
Salve Regina scored the game winning goal just 30 seconds into the extra frame for a 3-2 win over the Bison and earned a split of the weekend. Nichols went 0-3 on the power-play and was a perfect 3-3 on the penalty kill, including the shorthanded goal.
