Chris Traina captured his 200
th win on Friday afternoon as the Nichols College Men's Soccer team cruised to a 4-1 win over MCLA from Zavattaro AC in a mid-afternoon Friday contest.
The scoring was opened by the Bison, as freshman
Juanesteban Hincapie scored his first collegiate goal just under 30 minutes into the match. Just before the end of the half, another Nichols freshman,
Evan Ffrench would score his first college goal, off a feed from senior
Colby Knight. The Bison went into the half up 2-0.
The Trailblazers would try to make a push, with Marcos Lopez scoring only 3 minutes into the second half. But MCLA would not be able to overcome the Bison firepower. The next scoring play came when Bison goalie
Derek Axon earned his first collegiate assist, when he setup
William Pugliese-Savage, bringing the Bison back up by one.
Pugliese-Savage would go onto adding another unassisted goal less than 9 minutes later.
Along with his assist,
Axon made 9 saves in net for the Bison.
Traina remains to set records as the winningest coach in Nichols College history and surpasses the 200
th win milestone with the win today.
With the win the Bison are 2-2 on the season, while the Trailblazers fall to 1-1 with the loss.
The Bison will be back on the road in Western Massachusetts tomorrow, Saturday September 9
th as they take on Western Connecticut State at Williams College Cole Field. Kickoff is set for 3pm.
