BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. (9/6/23) – For the second time in as many nights, the Nichols College women's volleyball team claimed the win by way of a sweep, defeating non-conference host Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-15) at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center on Wednesday night.
The Bison claim their third consecutive win, improving their record to 3-0 overall on the season, while the Buccaneers fall to 0-2 with the loss.
In addition to the team earning their second straight shutout, it was also the second consecutive double-double performance for senior outside hitter
Haylee Granato, who finished the night with 16 kills and 11 digs. Senior libero
Liz Diorio led all floor players with 28 digs in the win, while sophomore setter
Ruby St. Onge tallied a match-best 19 assists for the Bison.
After falling behind slightly in the opening set, the Bison charged back from behind to claim an 11-9 edge off of five straight points, forcing a Massachusetts Maritime timeout. Despite the lead flipping back in favor of the host Buccaneers, the Bison continued their pursuit up until a 19-19 standoff between the two squads, fueling an eventual 6-0 run to finish off the frame by the score of 25-19.
Through the next two sets, the Bison continued to overwhelm the Buccaneers with a balanced attack, with their longest run of the match coming in the third set by a 10-1 difference. To finish the night, the Bison decisively took wins by scores of 25-14 in set two, and 25-15 in set three.

th at Rhode Island College, with first serve scheduled for 10AM in Providence, Rhode Island.
