NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (9/5/23) – The Nichols Women's Soccer Team set out to Western Massachusetts for a Tuesday evening matchup against the Smith College Pioneers. The Bison were unable to hold off the Pioneers scoring and dropped the contest to the home team by a score of 4-1.
The Pioneers struck first in the game, when Smith's Alex Kiernan riffled a shot passed Bison starting goaltender sophomore
Saige Frazier. Nichols would then break open their own scoring when junior Emily
Feisthamel would pot her first goal of the season, with less than 4 minutes to go before the end of the first half. Junior
Caroline Shields would notch her first collegiate assist on the Feisthamel goal. The teams would enter halftime knotted at 1-1.
In the second half the Pioneers with go onto scoring three unanswered goals. The Bison would not be able to come back from the deficit and would go onto dropping the match.
With the loss, the Bison fall to 0-3 overall on the season, while the Pioneers picked up their first win on the season and sit at 1-0-1.
The women's soccer team's next contest will be the Hallie Linacre Memorial Game. This match will be played on Vendetti Field at Nichols College. The Saturday September 9
th contest against Framingham St. has a kickoff set for 1pm.
