Nichols Men's Soccer Downs VTSU Castleton on Senior Day, 1-0

Dudley, Mass. (9/19/23) – The Nichols Men's Soccer Team were able to fend off the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans on a Tuesday night tilt in Dudley. The Bison walked away with a 1-0 victory. The match marked the programs annual senior game.

It was the recently honored Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in junior William Pugliese-Savage and sophomore Derek Axon that led the way for the Bison.

Pugliese-Savage scored the lone goal and game-winner in the contest's 42nd minute when he blasted up the right-hand side of the field and accepted a pass from Santos Bonfante. Bonfante, collected his first collegiate point on the play, and Pugliese-Savage notched his fourth goal in three games.

Axon improved to 4-2-0 on the year between the posts with a six-save clean sheet.

Prior to the match, Nichols honored their senior class of 2024 in Cody Bohanan, Ethan Gosper, Riley Carey, Daniel Halliman, Miron Jusufi, Colby Knight, and Andrew Skowronek.

The Men's Soccer team is back in action as they hit the road this Saturday September 23rd as they take on the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. Kickoff is set for 3PM.
