DUDLEY, Mass. (9/19/23) – The Nichols College field hockey team scored two goals in 32 seconds in the third quarter, but ultimately fell 5-2 to the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors on Tuesday night from Vendetti Field.

The Warriors opened the scoring in with just over five minutes remaining in the quarter. The Warriors continued to add pressure and found the back of the net three more times, to take a 4-0 lead with seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
The Bison ended the shutout bid thanks to Worthington's first goal of the season. This goal was also the first collegiate goal for Worthington. Steinau was credited with the assist for her team leading fifth tally.
Nichols scored their second goal 32 seconds later. Breen scored coming off a pass from Calabro to cut the Warrior lead in half, 4-2. This was Breen's seventh goal of the season and Calabro added her second assist.
Eastern Connecticut State added some insurance in the fourth quarter and won 5-2.
The Bison will hit the road for their second Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game, as they head north to Biddeford, Maine and take on the University of New England on Friday, September 22. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
