Boston, Mass. – The Nichols softball team dropped two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) games to Suffolk on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 1-0 and 5-4. With the defeats, Nichols falls to 10-13-1 (3-5 CCC), while Suffolk (5-14, 4-4 CCC).

Suffolk 1, Nichols 0
It was a pitcher's duel in game one, as Nichols'
Olivia Pedro and Suffolk's Ashlyn Conley kept the game scoreless through six innings. After the first two batters were retired in the bottom of the seventh, a walk and a passed ball put a runner in scoring position for the Rams. Ira Boci came up with the clutch hit, doubling down the right-field line and scoring Lily Gustafson to give Suffolk the 1-0 win.
Pedro tossed 6.2 innings, allowing just five hits, one run, and striking out three.
Suffolk 5, Nichols 4
Suffolk got on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Nichols answered back in the second in a big way, as
Mackenzie Jackson and
Erin Gour hit back-to-back home runs to give the Bison a 2-1 lead.
Suffolk put up four runs on four hits, including a home run, in the bottom of the second to make it 5-2. Nichols responded in the third, adding a run on a sac fly by
Bailey Littlefield. In the fourth, Gour rounded the bases once again, this time going deep to right center to make it 5-4. The Bison bats were silenced the rest of the way as Suffolk came away with the win.
Ava Slavinsky went 3-3 at the plate for the Bison, while Gour (2) and Jackson each left the yard. Pitcher
Laney Martin tossed 4.2 innings in relief, allowing just two runs on six hits.
