CUMBERLAND, R.I. — The Nichols men's tennis brought home its first victory of the spring campaign with an 8-1 win over Emerson in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon at Fore Court. With the win, the Bison improve to 2-4 (0-0 CCC), while the Lions fall to 0-7 (0-0 NEWMAC) on the year.
The Bison took control of the match early with three quick doubles victories with the first coming from the pairing of Leon Zeis and Ludwig Schaltzer (8-2). The duos of Yannick De Vet and Caio Dieckmann (8-3) and Santiago Perez and Trevor Schwarzmann (WD) would round out the opening action.
The Bison would go on to make quick work of the Lions in the singles matches, winning five of the six matches. Zeis would bring home the first of five singles victories on the second court (6-4, 6-1). On court three, De Vet's 6-0, 6-0 victory clinched the match for the Bison. Following the secured victory, Enzo Matos Balleux took control of court four with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mesaros. Oscar Junyent would finish up action with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 before Grant Garcia would be awarded a win by default on the final court.
The Bison head back to Fore Court on Saturday, March 11th to take on the Bryant Bulldogs as a kick off to their Spring Break trip.
