DUDLEY, Mass. – The No. 15 ranked Nichols men's volleyball team downed Bard in straight sets in its New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opener on Saturday morning at the Nichols Athletic Center. The Bison, who were victorious by set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-9, advancing their winning streak to 11 games to jump to 12-3 (1-0 NECC) on the season. The Raptors dropped to 5-9 (1-1 NECC) in the setback.
Despite a contested first set, the Bison outpaced the visitors on offense throughout the contest to come away with the sweep. Nichols hit at a .373 team percentage with 35 kills, while limiting Bard to just 13 kills at a -.018 clip.
Tanner Soracco led the way in multiple statistical categories, including kills (nine), digs (nine) aces (three), and blocks (3).
Dylan Urbanski dished out 25 assists in the triumph.
Nichols will head south for a Sunday double-feature of nationally-ranked action, as the squad will face the No. 13 and 14 teams in the country in UC Santa Cruz and Marymount, respectively, in a tri-match at the Converse Family Field House in Arlington, Va. on the campus of Marymount University.
