DARTMOUTH, N.H. – The Nichols men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over Colby-Sawyer in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center on the campus of Dartmouth College. Nichols advanced to 3-7 on the season, while the Chargers fell to 3-9.
The Bison won swept doubles play with the duos of
Leon Zeis and
Frederick Bertrams (8-5),
Caio Dieckmann and
Yannick De Vet (8-6), and
Trevor Schwarzmann and
Santiago Perez (8-1) winning at No. 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
In singles play, Schwarzmann held down the first court with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Zeis followed that up with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the second court, while De Vet had to battle to a 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 win at No. 3.
Ludwig Schlätzer would drop the lone match of the day, falling in highly contested bouts on the fourth court by set scores of 5-7, 6-3, 5-10.
On the final two courts,
Oscar Junyent ran away with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph followed
by Enzo Matos Balleux earning a 6-0, 6-1 result.
Nichols will continue its non-league slate with a Saturday meeting with 21st-ranked Amherst at 3:00 p.m. from the Bay Road Tennis Club.
