KEENE, N.H. – The Nichols men's lacrosse team fell in a mid-week non-conference tune up to Keene State by a score of 13-5 on Wednesday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex. With the loss, the Bison fell to 6-3 on the season while the Owls jumped to 2-4.
Colby Gillis and
Jack Ellis each scored in the first quarter to get the Bison on the board, but that would be all the offense the visitors could muster in the opening 30 minutes to find themselves down 3-2 at the half.
Nichols would tie the game at 5-all with 6:24 to play in the third quarter on
CJ Cadigan's second goal of the contest. Keene State would go on to score eight unanswered goals over the closing 21:24 to run away with its second win of the season.
Brady Morgan made 17 saves on 30 shots on target in the setback.
Despite taking the loss, Nichols was 20-of-23 on clear attempts while winning the ground ball battle, 28-27, and won 12 faceoffs to the Owls' 10.
Nichols will now turn its attention to its league slate, facing off in its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener on Wednesday, March 29 against Salve Regina at 7:00 p.m. from Vendetti Field.
