BOSTON, Mass. (11/4/23) – In the second game of a home-and-home series with Wentworth Institute of Technology, the Nichols College men's ice hockey team were handed a 3-2 loss by the host Leopards on Saturday afternoon at Allied Veterans Rink.
Junior
Kaiden Scott recorded his second goal of the young season, while sophomore
Jack Lee collected his first strike of the season, shorthanded. Junior
Josh Dickson added in an assist on each of the Bison goals, while the other two helpers belonged to juniors
Nathan Carl and
Gabe Temple. In his collegiate debut between the pipes for the Bison, freshman
Nick Anderson turned away 21-of-24 shots faced.
Forward Josh Faussett opened the scoring at the 7:54 mark of the opening period with the help of Nolan Lowe and Ethan Lim. It wouldn't be long after that Scott notched the equalizer for the Bison, which came at 12:46. Through the entire period, Nichols outshot Wentworth by a 10-8 margin.
Lee's shorthanded tally would give the Bison the lead at 12:48 of the second period, but the lead would be shortlived as the Leopards fired off two quick strikes less than a minute apart to seize the lead back at 3-2. Nothing else would be needed for the hosts, as both squads skated scoreless through the third.
In total, the Bison outshot the Leopards 33-24.
Next up, the Bison will scoot out to Springfield, Massachusetts for a series opener with Western New England University (1-2-0, 0-1-0 CCC) on Friday, November 10
th. Faceoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM from Olympia Ice Center.
