Quincy Mass. (10/9/23) - The Nichols College Men's Tennis Team edged out the Eastern Nazarene College Lions 5-4 in non-conference fall action in Quincy.
The Bison were able to pick up their first team win of the year and now sit at 1-1 (0-0 CCC) on the season, and Eastern Nazarene falls to 0-3 on the year.
In doubles play, the Bison came away with two of the three wins, earning the decisive doubles point. Leon Zeis / Yannick De Vet got the win at #1 Doubles (8-7), and Enzo Matos Balleux / Richard Hartmann got the win in the number 2 position (8-2).
In singles action, the teams were divided, each picking up 3 match wins. For the Bison, it was their depth that helped them pull away. De Vet (6-1, 6-1) picked up the victory at #1, Hartmann (5-7, 6-4, 7-5) at #4, and Matos Balleux (7-6, 6-4) at #5.
The Bison will continue their fall non-conference schedule next Saturday, October 14th as they head to Amherst College for a match with the Mammoths.
