East Boston Mass. (10/7/23) – The Nichols College women's soccer team fell to the Suffolk University Rams, 8-1, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park. With the loss, Nichols fall to 2-9-1 (0-4-0 CCC) and the Rams improve to 7-3-2 (2-1-0 CCC) on the season. The loss marks the first time the Bison have lost to the Rams since Oct 16, 2021.
The Rams opened the scoring early when Avery Porter found herself unmarked in the box and headed the ball into the back of the net off a Kylie Flynn corner in the 10
th minute to give Suffolk the 1-0 lead. The Rams would continue to be persistent with their press which led to Klaudia Rushi scoring two more goals in a span of thirty seconds to advance their lead to 3-0 in just the 12
th minute.
Falyn Hunt would rescue a goal back for the Bison as she struck the ball from outside of the box into the top right corner of the goal past the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper in the 14
th minute. The goal marked her first goal of the season. The teams would continue to trade shots for the rest of the half to no avail.
It was in the second half when the Rams started to pull away, scoring five unanswered goals from five different goalscorers to push the final score to 8-1. The best chance of the half for the Bison came when Hunt intercepted a pass in the final third and dribbled past the goalkeeper but was unable to find the back of the net from a difficult angle.

Adie Hughes was called upon often and recorded eight saves in the first half.
Saige Frazier and
Madeleine Soudant would each provide a save of their own in the second half.
The Women's Soccer Team returns to action this Wednesday, October 11
th as they are set to host the Roger Williams University Hawks at the Nichols Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 3 PM.
