Schroeder Named Co-Player of the Year, Joined by 4 All Conference Bison

Beverley, Mass. (10/27/23)- Nichols Women's Tennis junior Johanna Schroeder was named co-player of the year for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) the conference announced Friday afternoon. She is joined by four Bison teammates as all confrence winners.
 
Schroeder is joined by All-CCC first-team doubles award winners Antonia Carrero and Charis Vogler, second-team doubles winners Schroeder and Sofia Leonardi.
 
In singles All-CCC team award, Antonia Carrero and Charis Vogler won first team honors for the Bison. Johanna Schroeder and Cora Brosch got second team nods.
 
Johanna Schroeder went 10-1 (7-0 CCC) this year in her singles matches this season, (playing at positions 1-4 (primarily 2)), with her only loss coming against Division I Bryant University. She was also 11-0 (7-0 CCC) in doubles action (3 position), primarily beside partner Sofia Leonardi. The pair posted the teams only win against D1 Bryant, winning 6-4. She won player of the week of 10/16. Schroeder also won all 4 of her playoff matchups for the Bison.
 
Carrero and Vogler went 4-4 this season in doubles, including 5-2 in CCC action. They were the Bison's #1 double pairing this year. They got a key win in the CCC semi-final against Roger Williams.
 
Schroeder and Leonardi proved dominate for the Bison this season going 10-0 in their matchups, including 7-0 in their conference games. Key wins came over conference rivals Endicott (8-6) and D1 opponent Bryant (6-4). The pair occupied the #3 position for the Bison this season. They also won both matchups in the CCC playoff run.
 
Antonia Carrero went 4-3 (3-0 CCC) in singles action at #1 position. She won key matchups in both CCC playoff runs for the Bison.
 
Charis Vogler is 8-3 (6-2 CCC) this season at 1, 2, and 3 singles. She beat out D1 opponent Bryant the #3 position and won against Roger Williams in the CCC semi-final.
 
Freshman Cora Brosch bumped around in singles competition going 6-4 in singles action (4-3 CCC). She has split time between 2, 3, and 4 positions.
 
The Bison season wrapped up with a second-place finish in the CCC championship match, they will return to action this spring for non-traditional play.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), founded in 1984, is an NCAA Division III athletic conference composed of 10 full member and two associate member institutions throughout the New England region. Its membership aims to provide student-athletes with a positive experience in their pursuit of excellence through high academic standards, quality competition and a meaningful student life. The Conference administers championships in 20 intercollegiate sports.
