Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Worthington Scores Twice in Win Over Gordon, 4-0

WENHAM, Mass. (10/23/23) – Four second half goals helped power the Nichols College field hockey team past the Gordon College Fighting Scots 4-0 in non-conference on Monday evening from Brigham Athletic Center.

Junior Callie Worthington scored twice, and freshman Sofia Calabro also scored for the Bison. Sophomore Sarah King scored her first collegiate goal in the fourth quarter. While reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rooke of the Week Katherine Hearn tallied an assist in the win.

This game started off the same way the first meeting between these teams started. Neither team was able to find the back of the net through 30 minutes of action, as they remained tied, 0-0 at the half. Calabro opened the scoring for the Bison just over 10 minutes into the third quarter to break a 0-0 tie. This was her fifth goal of the season.

Worthington scored back-to-back goals to extend the Bison lead to 3-0. She scored four minutes into the fourth quarter and then added another four minutes later for her first multi-goal game of her career. King scored her first collegiate goal with less then three minutes to go in game, to put the game out of reach as Nichols won 4-0.

Junior Sophia Venable and freshman Fallyn Belisle shared time in the cage but neither netminder faced a shot on goal.

Nichols will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday evening, as they return home for a 7 p.m. non-conference match up with New England College from Vendetti Field.
