BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Nichols women's hockey team traveled up north and came away with a huge overtime win over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent University of New England (UNE) on Friday evening, by a score of 3-2. With the win, the Bison improve to 4-11-1 (2-8 CCC), while the Nor'easters fall to 6-10-1 (5-5-1 CCC).

Nichols opened the scoring 3:32 into the first period when senior
Lauren Rokala found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. UNE would strike back five minutes later to knot the game up at 1-1. The Nor'easters added another goal 15:52 into the first to take a 2-1 lead into the second period.

After a scoreless second, Bison captain
Rebecca Taylor netted her first goal of the season 7:40 into the third period to even the score at 2. Both teams would keep the puck out of the net for the remained of the period as the game headed to overtime.

In overtime, senior defenseman
Sarah Zeidan carried the puck up the left side and fired a wrist shot off of the goalie and into the net to give Nichols the 3-2 win. The overtime winner was Zeidan's first goal of the campaign.

Victoria Bakopanos tallied 37 saves in the winning effort. Senior
Kayla Currin also picked up an assist in the win.
