DUDLEY, Mass- The Nichols College women's basketball team lost to non-conference opponent NVU-Johnson on Monday night by the score of 93-79. With the loss, Nichols falls to 3-11 on the season, while NVU-Johnson improves to 10-6.

After a high-scoring first quarter, both teams started to increase the pressure on defense in the second. The Bison trailed by seven heading into the half, with junior guard
Abrianna Vazquez leading the way with 11 first half points.

Nichols started to find their groove offensively in the third quarter, going on a 12-2 run in the remaining 3:11 to take a two-point lead into the fourth quarter. NVU-Johnson answered right back at the start of the fourth to retake the lead. The Badgers used a huge run to extend their lead to 13 points with 3:18 remaining and essentially put the game out of reach.

Vazquez finished the game with 24 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Senior
Kiera Fernandes added 21 points, while also coming away with 8 steals on the defensive end.

The Bison look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night when they take on Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Salve Regina at 5:30 p.m. at the Nichols Athletic Center.
