HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols men's hockey team dropped its first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle to No. 13 Curry, by a score of 11-3 on Friday night at Levy Rink. With the loss, Nichols drops to 6-8-0 overall.
 
The Bison opened the scoring when Kaiden Scott converted a breakaway just 50 seconds into the contest. Both teams would soon thereafter trade powerplay goals, with Timmy Kent putting the Colonels on the board just 1:24 later, followed by a Nathan Carl strike just under four minutes into the frame to put Nichols back up by one, 2-1.
 
The visitors then turned on the pressure and took over the game, scoring six straight goals to take a comfortable 7-2 lead by the midway point of the game, a lead the Colonels would not stifle en route to their eighth conference victory of the season, and their second over the Bison.
 
Both teams will square off against each other on day two of the home-and-home series on Saturday, January 14 at the Canton Ice House with puck drop set for 3 p.m.
