Men's Basketball Hangs on Against Endicott, 77-68

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols College men's basketball team came away with a huge Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win over Endicott College at home on Tuesday night, by the score of 77-68. With the win, Nichols extends their winning streak to three and improves their record to 9-5 (5-2 CCC), while Endicott falls to 9-5 (5-2 CCC) as well.

Midway through what was an offensive struggle in the first half, the teams would find themselves all tied up at 11. The Bison then went on a 15-0 run and went into the half with an 11-point lead. Nichols held the Gulls to just 33% shooting in the first half, including 4-16 from behind the arc.

Endicott would fight back in the second half, getting the score within two multiple times. The Bison would never allow Endicott to get any closer, as they always seemed to get a bucket whenever they needed one most. With just under one minute remaining and the score sitting at 68-66, junior guard Tavon Jones drove to the hole and converted the tough layup plus the foul to essentially put the game out of reach.

The Bison controlled the paint the whole night, outscoring Endicott down low 38-24. Nichols also out-rebounded the Gulls 42-32. Matthew Alectus had a double-double for the Bison, tallying 20 points and 14 rebounds. Jones added 19 points, and Ty Rucker chipped in with 17 in the win.

Up next for the Bison is CCC opponent Wentworth in Boston on Saturday, January 14 at 3 p.m.
