DUDLEY, MASS. – The Nichols College field hockey program opened their season at home on Vendetti Field with a decisive 4-1 win over Bridgewater State in non-conference action Thursday, September 1.
The Bison (1-0) took the lead at 8:45 in the first quarter thanks to a diving goal by graduate student
Dana Edwards, off a feed by senior
Erin Anthony. Nichols would strike again just four minutes later when Anthony netted a pass from graduate student
Sam Ahaesy.
Freshman
Taylor Breen knocked home her first career goal early in the second half, giving Nichols a 3-0 lead. Ahaesy capped the scoring for the Bison early in the fourth quarter.
Bridgewater State's (0-1) lone goal came off the stick of senior Sophia Morse with five minutes remaining in the contest.
The Bison head to Smith College on Saturday, September 3
rd for the Carol Newoff Tournament. They will face the University of Maine-Farmington at 2:30 p.m.
