DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College baseball team closed its 2022 season with a 14-4 loss to Western New England Friday afternoon in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs at the Nichols Baseball Field.

Graduate student Nathaniel Cormier and senior DJ Caron each collected three hits for the Bison (19-21-1), who fell behind 9-0 after two-plus innings and could not recover. Sophomore Ben Jerome put forth a 4-for-5 effort at the plate while classmate Brennan Hyde picked up two RBI for Nichols.

The Bison pushed across three runs in the third to cut their deficit to 9-3 behind a sac fly from Hyde and RBI singles from Jerome and junior Will Kleinhenz. The Golden Bears (19-19-1) went on to add five more runs before Hyde drove in his second run of the contest in the ninth.

Junior Kyle McCutcheon surrendered nine earned runs in 2.1 innings of work and took the loss.
