Houghton breaks scoring record as Bison down Curry, 10-8

DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Hadley Houghton broke the Nichols College women's lacrosse single-season record for goals in a 10-8 win over Curry College Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's lacrosse action at Vendetti Field.

Houghton closed the day with five goals, giving her 54 on the season and moving her past Krista-Jean Forand – who potted 53 goals in 2010 – for sole possession of the record. Seniors Elizabeth Luster and Rebecca Taylor each scored twice for the Bison, who moved to 10-3 on the season (4-1 CCC).

Freshman McKenzie Muir paced the Bison in ground balls with four while senior Isabella Portt and junior Erin Anthony each collected three. Muir also caused a pair of turnovers, Houghton won six draw controls, and Taylor went 2-for-2 on free position shots. Sophomore goalie Keri Tremblay recorded 11 saves to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Prior to the contest, the Bison honored nine members of the program who are completing their fourth season of competition – Luster, Portt, Taylor, Jocelyn Nace, Brooke Pelley, Sabrina Dembro, Abigail Pelis, Sam Ahaesy, and Abbey Cail.
