BEVERLY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's volleyball team saw its 2022 campaign come to a close with a 3-1 loss at top-seeded Endicott College Saturday afternoon in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at MacDonald Gymnasium. The Gulls won 25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17.
Sophomore
Nick Lavrenchuk racked up nine kills for the Bison (15-12) while classmate and NECC First Team selection
Tanner Soracco also picked up nine kills to go with four blocks. Senior and NECC First Team pick
Ray Wang closed his senior season with seven kills, five digs, and a pair of service aces.
Sophomore and NECC Second Team selection
Nick Martin capped his sophomore campaign with a 23-assist, nine-dig effort while junior and NECC Second Team pick
Nicholas Basco registered eight digs. Junior
Nick Vermette tallied a pair of service aces.
The Gulls (18-6) notched 29 team blocks (28 assist) and posted a .266 hitting pct., compared to Nichols' .028.
In four seasons of varsity competition, the Bison have won 15 games in both 2019 and 2022. The 2020 and 2021 campaigns were interrupted and shortened by COVID-19.
