LEWISTON, Maine – Senior
DJ Caron ripped a two-run triple in the ninth to break a three-all tie and propel the Nichols College baseball team to a 7-3 win over Bates College Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Leahey Field.
Graduate student
Nathaniel Cormier finished the day 3-for-5 with a solo home run and three runs scored for the Bison (14-15-1), who also received two hits and an RBI from sophomore
Johnny Knox and a 2-for-3 effort from junior
Brad Ellis.
After the Bobcats tied the game in the eighth, Caron's first triple of 2022 plated graduate student
Justin Hurley and senior
Isaac Blanford. Caron scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-3 before Knox doubled to bring home Cormier.
Junior
Kyle McCutcheon came on in relief of freshman starter
Sean Ryan and struck out three in 2.2 innings of work to record his first win of 2022.
Nichols has now won three-straight and four of the last five meetings with Bates (6-22).
