Bison pile up 27 goals in win over ENC

DUDLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Colby Gillis dished out a program-record 14 assists in Nichols College's 27-3 win over Eastern Nazarene University Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Vendetti Field.

Junior Blake Covell was one of four NC student-athletes to record a hat trick as he netted five goals, followed by freshman CJ Cadigan with four, and senior Hunter Ferreira and freshman Jack Ellis with three apiece. Senior Scott Ehrenberg won 15-of-17 in the face-off circle and freshman Jeffrey Taillon closed the day 11-of-16 at the X.

The 27 goals scored by the Bison (5-6) broke the previous program-record of 24, set against Castleton over 40 years ago on April 29, 1967. Gillis, meanwhile, shattered a 31-year old record of eight assists set by Jack Sweeney against Mount Ida over 20 years ago on April 9, 1981.

All told, 14 different student-athletes recorded at least one point for Nichols, including senior Jarrod Sweeney and junior Ryan Warner, who each scored twice, and senior Ethan Hopey, who scored his first goal of 2022.
